Stoneham sponsors classic motorcar in Silverstone race

15 March 2017

At Stoneham Kitchens, we believe strongly in fostering relationships with local businesses and supporting home-grown events, which is why when Stoneham Kitchens dealer – Oxford Kitchens & Bathrooms Ltd. offered us the opportunity for sponsorship, we put the pedal to the metal.

Stoneham Kitchens will be sponsoring a MK 1 Lotus Cortina, a true classic car raced by the likes of Jim Clark and Alan Mann in the 1960s. Richard Hardie at Oxford Kitchens & Bathrooms Ltd., has been involved in club car racing for a number of years, and will be entering the vintage vehicle in this year’s Pre-1966 Touring Car Champion race at the Silverstone Classic in July 2017. A world-renowned event, the Silverstone Classic provides spectacular historic motor-racing alongside displays of over 10,000 classic cars, from 100 car-clubs.

Richie Hardie comments, “We’re delighted to receive Stoneham Kitchens’ donation; a lot goes on behind the scenes to get a vintage motor onto the racetrack. It requires considerable work, time and inevitably cost, so every contribution is warmly welcomed.”

“As a motor-racing enthusiast myself, I have great admiration for the dedication involved in getting a car race ready.” Says Adrian Stoneham, Stoneham Kitchens Managing Director. “I’m thrilled to contribute to the MK 1 Lotus Cortina’s entry into the race, and I am looking forward to seeing it cross the finishing line – hopefully in first place!”
